Buying Hearing Aids - Make Sure Your Dispenser is Properly Qualified

Some words of advice when buying a hearing aid

We adhere strictly to the guidelines set by the Hearing Aid Council (HAC) - the government body that regulates the private hearing aid market. In conforming, we protect your interests.

The HAC Code of Trade Practice specifically states that:

* "Dispensers shall at all times give the best possible advice they can to their clients regarding hearing aids and their use." We provide this free of charge - just ask.

* "Dispensers shall, where appropriate, make it known to their clients that a hearing aid may not necessarily be of benefit." This is one reason we must offer you a free hearing test before we recommend any hearing aid solution at all. It also ensures that the hearing aid is correct for your particular hearing loss.

You should also bear in mind the following:

- be wary of anyone offering to sell you hearing aids without providing you with a hearing test.

- you cannot buy hearing aids "over the counter" or directly over the internet. Be wary of anyone who tries...

- if you see a "too good to be true" price on the internet, for a particular make and model - but when you want to buy it you are told it is not available .
(This may occur with some WIDEX hearing aids. Some companies who do not supply WIDEX may advertise prices that they cannot then honour, for hearing aids they cannot supply.)

- we are main suppliers of WIDEX hearing aids. We can supply all the makes and models on this web site (principally WIDEX, GN RESOUND, OTICON and PHONAK), as long as they remain current models, and as long as they are suitable for your hearing loss.

- even if you are just making an enquiry, we will appoint a qualified hearing aid audiologist to conduct a professional hearing loss assessment at a hearing centre close to you, or, if this is not convenient, in your home - free of charge, and strictly by appointment.

FREE HEARING TESTS: These are free of charge through our network of qualified hearing aid audiologists. There is no obligation to buy a hearing aid, but you cannot buy hearing aids unless you have a hearing test first. This is best practice in accordance with the Hearing Aid Council, and we recommend you do NOT enter into the supply of hearing aids unless you have a hearing test with - and are fitted by - a qualified professional.
